The world changes so quickly. In 10-15 years from now what norm will then be considered offensive?

MikeWaters 09-10-2016 12:42 PM

hey realtall.

The other change that will definitely be coming for the church, and will be more important and influential, will be the expansion of the role of women in leadership and ordinance, through explicit endorsement of the feminine divine.

It will take revelation, but it seems impossible that with our doctrinal background that this will not happen. At least, that's my opinion.

This of course is the coup de grace for BYU's Big 12 chances:

I say coup de grace because BYU has been intolerable overall and this is just emblematic. BYU has been receiving courtesy consideration. Whether in red or blue states university communities are similar.

I marvel that you guys can still call yourself Mormons and be BYU fans in this age. It's totally pointless fortitude, like watching somebody walk on a high wire between tall buildings or swallow swords, but fortitude nevertheless, in a narrow sense.

And part of getting weird is not having any college sports.

Jehovah's Witness--where is their team? SDAs, how about theirs?

You're overreacting. Bob Jones has a men's basketball team.

Yes, I already started a thread on that. Any BYU fan that thinks boycotts are NOT coming is delusional.

We are going to be the pariahs of sport.

It's REALLY hard to be a pariah over something you don't even agree with.

It's even starting to dawn on nincompoops now.

If this is to be believed, BYU and the church preparing to fight this to the bitter end.

All over fighting gay rights. It's so crazy.

Disheartening. Giving everything up so that leadership can be mean to gays and transgenders. Dumb. Nobody consulted me.

I'm starting to wonder if there aren't many leaders in the church that are relishing the idea of sifting the wheat and the chaff over this gay rights issue, and eagerly look forward to a shrinking church where only the elect remain. They see themselves as the last vanguard of morality.

It's a very confusing time.

There is a mentality that being persecuted means you are righteous, so some may relish the idea of shrinking the Church membership and receiving their mark of approbation to show off their own righteousness. In short, you are probably on to something. The leadership is completely misreading the bulk of its younger members and are completely out of touch with them. The Church had and still has a chance to be relevant, but is showing the times have outpaced their leadership abilities.
