What's wrong with my avatar? I actually think he looks pretty darn good in that picture.

In my opinion, like Hemingway, Dylan is immortalized more for his persona than his art. His persona neved did much for me, but I think you had to be there, and I'm too young to have been there. I doubt he was ever a very popular icon at BYU.

As for his looks, to me they don't seem saleable at BYU.

You know SU, when I was reading your stuff I thought "Man this guy has never read Hemingway. If he had, he wouldn't write like this."

It's not a surprise at all you don't get him.

So you think that I should change my avatar because BYU students back in the sixties probably didn't approve of Dylan or his appearance?

I just like his music. In some of his younger pictures he looks pretty good, and dress & grooming violation or not some guys just look better with a little scruff.

If I change my avatar because it's Dylan are you also suggesting that I change my username? I can't do that, I've whole-heartedly embraced it as part of my identity. It just wouldn't feel right for me to change my username.

I've read a lot of Hemingway. In any event I didn't say he was a bad writer.

I confess I was paraphrasing Harold Bloom when I said that about Hemingway.
