My point is, if my son serves a mission, I don't care if the office keeps love letters from girls within the mission from reaching him.

Why would it matter if you agree, it's more a question if it's legally acceptable and socially acceptable society-wide.

If it's personally acceptable, you go right ahead and sign a consent over to the MP and tell him you want him snooping inside family letters to your missionary. I'm sure you'll reap blessings in heaven.

I didn't say family letters to my missionary. Learn to read.

GPS collars on all the missionaries. Why not?

I agree with this. My son's MP is fully entitled to read anything that states clearly on the outside, "Love letter to Elder ___. From his love interest who lives inside the mission boundaries."

A package from outside South America is clearly love letter from within the mission boundaries of said South American country. You communicate so clearly.

Midterm update:

Church HQ called back, informed Ms. Archaea that South America opens all packages and that MP had nothing to do with detaining package. As an aside, the mother had in her quiver three emails from MP admitting it was he who opened the packages. When revealed to HQ, lame response was, "How do you want me to resolve it?"

HQ was informed, "here are my flight plans to said, South American MP. You deal with it, or I will. Your choice, but I won't be responsible for what happens thereafter."

We shall see.

Wow.

I can't help but laugh.

I never said Ms. A is wise in her approach, but she is persistent. He may be sent home early but given my daughter's affection for him, she doesn't seem too sad about the idea. I have ceased providing advice on the matter, but I am amazed at how dishonest the organization and that particular mission is. To those who defer to leadership without question, "but it's all inspiration, what is done in the mission field...."

As an aside, the MP is really a horse's backside. He doesn't speak English, so he has his MP sit over BF's shoulder and dictating what sort of email he must write home regarding the incident. He reported this during his call home. BF is in for hell during his mission, but it really reveals the underbelly of some MP's and the lack of inspiration of some of the leaders. Fortunately, the new MP will be released in July, as the Mission is due for a change of leadership.
