Now, Buca di Bepo is only acceptable because of decor. It looks like the inside of pretty much any home in Sicily. The food is bad, but the ambiance makes up for it.

Fortunately, my little town has one outstanding Italian restaurant and another passable one.

You are a fortunate man.

I should say that it isn't just Italian that suffers from chain suckiness. Pretty much all ethnic food in chains is bad.

Toronto and Vancouver have fantastic restaurants. I can't speak for the rest of the country though.

Yes, fantastic fine restaurants. The average local fair that offers good grub leaves much to be desired as compared to what is available in the states. Food is expensive, not very good and the service in general is poor.

Weyburn, Sask., Broadview, Sask., Fort Qu'Aplle, Sask., Sioux Narrows, Ont., Rainy River, Ont. very limited food selection.

Regina, Sask., Saskatoon, Sask., and Winnipeg, MB. not much better.

True, but you likely did get to have breakfast at the Hoito:

I only spent one day in Thunder Bay. We had Zone Conference and we got to see Star Wars 5 (the second one). The Hoito was not on the schedule but I wish it would have been.
