Are they bluffing in order to encourage early entries, or do we really need to get in soon if we are serious? I can't imagine 578 team spots would go that quickly.

Last year, I found out about it at the St George Marathon (October) and didn't register until December and got in. However, I've heard a lot more people talking about it this year. Of course, I hadn't heard about it at all last year at this time.

There is also a race up that weekend near eden/

I can tell you, having done a few Xterra events, they will be as difficult as they come. I will be in town on the 28th so I may do the Snowbird 8k just because it will be a killer.

2009 CG Wasatch Back roll call.

So far we have soft commitments from - bigpiney x2, bluegoose x2, Sea Chicken, Runner Coug, Coach McGuirk, Venkman, Fuegote, TSF.

Unconfirmed, but interested - Archaea, SteelBlue. That would be 12.

Any others that I'm missing? ERCoug? Lebowski?

I don't think they're bluffing. That race is blowing up. The only reason it didn't sell out sooner this year was that the state tourism board, realizing that people from all over the country come to Utah to run this thing, stepped in with a promise of help with permits and road closures in exchange for Ragnar letting everyone who signed up by March 31st into the race. If not for that, my team this year would not have gotten in.

My wife and I are willing to sign the letter of intents and commit. We are definitely in.

Yesterday morning I did my practice up hill run. Ran 5 miles at a 2.4-3% incline up to the copper mine.

So I wouldn't overtrain, my wife was supposed to pick me up there but we miscommunicated so I ran back home.

She wanted to go swimming at the gym after her workout and I told her I would meet her there and decided to run to the gym to see how I could handle two runs. Did another 6 miles.

I felt great, my IT band doesn't hurt (who knew stretching was good for you?) and I think I'm ready for the race in a couple of weeks.

So it was 16 miles total for the day? You're more than ready for the Wasatch. Congrats on getting your ITB back so quickly (and yes, that was quick).

Bigpiney and Sister Piney are in. My wife and I would love to join, team CG willing.

Post #43 above has the other possible contenders. Applications are currently being accepted and reviewed in the order in which they are received. Make sure and include a processing fee of $200, payable to "Cash". Just send it to me. I'll know what to do with it.
