My Official Prediction for The U/Y game

BYU does well in the first half...going in with a slight lead....34-31

Start of the 2nd half BYU struggles offensively, Green and Bryant hit back to back 3's followed by a 3 point play from Nevill the old fashioned way and the run is on.

With about 7 mins left BYU finds themself down by 12 points or so...slowly chipping away at the lead, and get it down to 6 at the 3 minute TV timeout....then the Yewts hit 2 more clutch 3's in the closing minutes to ice the game....Yewts win in Double Digits.... 78-67 with Nevill being high scorer and rebounder 23 and 12.

Trent fouls out with 4 minutes left. Sits most of the 1st half due to foul trouble.

So far I'm just about spot on...save a few points....it's 34-27 Halftime for BYU....Plaisted went out early with foul trouble.

I hope my 2nd half prediction doesn't come true.

You beat me to it, Rocky. Nice call - just a few points off.

I feel better about the game based on your 1st half prediction, but the Utes need to rebound better and put someone on Young who can slow him down.

The Utes are uncharacteristically colder than normal from 3 point land. Neither Bryant or Green have a hit from that range....if they do and the Utes heat up I think it's all over.

The game is getting out of hand. BYU is playing well and deserves this win. 19 points down with about 8 minutes to go for this Utah team is too much to overcome.

BYU's depth is killing Utah as well.

I'm glad I was way off.

I'm pleasantly surprised to get a double digit win up there. Keena Young is fun to watch when he takes someone to school down in the paint.

Nice game for the Y. After 13 years, it's gotta be nice for you folks to say that your team got a win on the hill.

Wow. Awesome game.

It seems like eons since Robbie Reid hit that long shot back in 1994. Let's home the next win in SLC isn't another 13 years in the making.

This BYU team is simply better than this Utah team

so unless this Utah team plays out of its mind, it won't defeat this Cougar team. Might still happen but the disparity is noticeable. Usually, except for when it was in Utah's favor, it wasn't.

I fully expected this BYU team to lose. I don't know if I am capable of adjusting to what appears to be a new reality.

Two Words: Gavin Mcgregor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who else thinks Jonathon Tavernari is going to eventually be a great player for this team? He just seems to have a natural feel for the game that I haven't seen in a long time from a BYU player.

I agree and if he keeps playing like that against the Utes, they will grow to hate him just like Hoffa, Hansen and Cooper.

Utes will hate him for different reasons than Araujo and Cooper. Unless the kid is a complete ass like Cooper or a cheap thug like Araujo, Ute fans will only hate him if he's a great player who causes the Utes fits.

Honestly do U or Y fans really need an excuse to be annoyed by an opposing player? :)

Having said that,,,as much as I wanted to hate Eric Weddle, Morgan Scalley, Alex Jensen, Andre Miller, and a few others I just couldn't.

I hear you. Cameron Jensen is a great example of a Y player that I really liked, as are Ty Detmer, Devin Durrant and Chuck Cutler.

Dare we postulate that he has "it"?

I agree with you. He appears to be a very rare find for BYU. Perhaps a rare find for anybody, that ability to positively dominate a game at the offensive end and be an impact player so early. Given how much HB hyped him, I expected the same from Cummard, which might have been unfair. That said, I really like how Cummard has progressed.

I guess overall, this is the first time in a long time where I feel the tream is getting much better as the season progresses.
