Why it's not in Cougarboard's interest to ban me
Because if I'm banned, I will actually spend some time trying to improve cougarguard, and attempt to make it the premiere BYU Cougar / Mormon issues board on the planet.
Yes, Jefe, it is much better that I slop away on cougarboard, hardly doing a thing about my own board. (Never trust cougarboard to make a decision in its actual real interest). |
So you're actually banned from CB right now?

But I was banned for a day, not that long away, but it was rescinded. But I get the feeling that they really, really want to ban me. |
What Waters has done is tantamount to starting a new basketball league and steal 90% of the NBA all-star team. He only lacks filler. He already has the CB stars over here; now that we've got the mullah big bats all the perspectives are represented. CG even has more women than CB right now! CB has passed its high water mark. And like all dominant regimes tend to do, it killed itself.
Still wish we could get PAC but he's kind of put himself out to pasture. |

I am in the Obi-Wan position right now.

I have been banned
Technically I have. I got suspended 7 days for starting a gambling thread. Of course I didn't think it was a gambling thread, but it doesn't matter what I think, does it.
My 7 days are up, but I really don't think I can in good conscience sign the ambigious rules agreement knowing full well I will break it again at some point in time. Heck, last month I got a suspension for using the word pussy to describe a wimp. In my day that word meant "pussy cat" and that is my terminology for it. Look it up in the dictionary. One of the definitions is wimp. That board is great. I don't even mind getting suspended. However, I don't feel like signing anymore some kind of agreement that I am going to obey someone elses ambigious moral standards. Unlike you though Mike, that board will survive just fine without my posts. |

Note: one great thing about cougarguard is you are better off not putting anything in the subject line!
I have no illusions that cougarboard would miss me. I've made some friends, I would miss them a bit. But CB would march on. I haven't really put too much effort into this site. All the success we've had is due to the great people here who have worked at building a smart friendly community. I think regardless of whether I will be banned from CB or not, I will put more effort into increasing the functionality of the site. But at the end of the day, it's the people that we have here, who work at helping and entertaining each other that will make this work. |

The thing I like about CB's format is the ability to hit and run. Maybe it is that I am just used to the format. I am sure I will comfortable with this one over time.
However, less posting isn't going to be so bad an idea. I figure my excessive posting over the years has cost me about $500,000 in income. :) |

It's not Mike Waters' neglect of this site that has stymied the growth, it's the people that post on here.

Gee Indy
Maybe Mike could set up some ambigious rules, make you the moderator. Then only the people you like could post and the site would take off. :)

BYU71 is a huge get.

71 is one of my favorite CB persons in person. He is the personality of our fanbase that nobody ever really gets to know. He's an enigma, yet faithful to the cause. Hopefully he can get accustomed to the format enough to enjoy it. I prefer this one because discussions don't disappear after you go to a client meeting.

I will tell everyone how much I like
you at some other time. If I did it right now people would just think I was doing so because you said something nice about me. I am going to look up what enigma means though to make sure you said something nice.

mpfunk, CG may be your most practical and convenience means to destroying utefans. But if we took down both utefans and CB we may attract the scrutiny of the Dept. of Justice under the Sherman antitrust act.

I thought that 71 posted over here a long time ago... but let me add my 2 cents in saying that I'm glad that he's going to train himself to like this format.

Welcome 71.
This board, in the words of King Mongut of Siam, "is a puzzlement" to me. Half the time I'm put off by the liberalism crap put out by some of the posters, and at other time, I really enjoy this board. I particularly like how the threads don't disappear to page 3 after 10 minutes of the original posts. Which leads me to post the question for CG..how often is "New Posts" updated? Seems like that is rather random to me. But... if this site had more sports information going on...I'd spend more time here than CB. Right now, it's about a 60-40 split going CB's way. |
My prediction: Jefe now institutes glasnost on CB. It will be too little too late.

There isn't much sports to talk about, is there. All boards are similarly distracted right now.

I am of the opinion that BYU71 is a good get. One thing I propose is to remove his junior member status, the word junior should never be applied to BYU71.

Thanks to everyone for the welcome
I feel like I walked into Sacrament meeting after not attending for a couple of years. I know after a little while I will be treated like everyone else and beaten up for my well reasonded thinking.
I was kind of sad to see Indy just show up, make some nasty comments about people and then leave. He is such a great guy when you agree with him. |

The only time that Indy makes a good contribution here is during the football season, when he matches statistical acumen with Pelagius. Of course, Pelagius wins every time, but it's interesting nonetheless. |
