ExUte just posted this on cougarboard

Amazon has 6 Qt. Lodge Dutch Ovens on sale for $8.03 each. I just bought 4 of them, because if you go over $25, you get free ground shipping (it would cost $16.20 to ship 1 of them).

doh, sorry I completely forgot about doing that before placing my order. I just went through the link on that page to find it and I just edited my post to change the referal id on the url to credit you, so now by clicking on my link and buying it, it should give you commision. For those that would rather go through the search took on the books link, put B00008GKDA into the search and it will take you right to it.

I just ordered 4 myself. Probably keep 2 and give 2 to the troop.

The_Tick 08-15-2006 04:36 PM

Will keep 2 and will use some as wedding/Christmas gifts....

poor UPS guys, these things are 20 lbs each. lol

The_Tick 08-15-2006 05:45 PM

She is a chick. She is smoking hot. I order as much stuff from UPS in the summer as possible.

She should be in a magazine...

The price was either an error (most likely) or they sold enough at that price that they raised it because it is now showing a price of $60.98 each instead of $8.03. I'm hoping they don't go and cancel all of the orders or worse yet change the price on all of the orders.

The_Tick 08-15-2006 06:53 PM

Check your e-mail account.

They always cancel orders in there...

nothing yet in my email and my order still shows up as awaiting shipment on their site. It shows it having an estimated shipping date between 9/18 and 10/2 though, so they have plenty of time to catch it :(

mpfunk 08-15-2006 07:08 PM

Damn I guess I missed out. Probably for the best, I really do not need to add anything to my inevitable move in a May.

Can they change it once they accept your money?

Or do they just put a 'hold' on your account until it is shipped?

The_Tick 08-15-2006 08:33 PM

They can cancel it up until the shipment date.

This happened one other time with a Bose surround sound system with reciever.

I think the legit price was 1500.00 for the system.

The price went up as 15.00.

I bought 10 of those bad boys. They cancelled my order 3 days later due to an "error" out of their control.

BS, but what can I do...

yep, bcause they don't actually charge your card until it ships. At least they do it like that though. Earlier this year someone posted on cougarboard a promo code to use on ticketmaster to buy Jazz tickets for $1/each for certain games. I decided to grab a bunch of them and have the game be our YM/YW combined activity for the month. I chose the print at h ome tickets and got a pdf with all the tickets, then a week before the game, the email me to let me know that the deal I used was only valid for up to 4 tickets and that they had now charged my credit card the full price for each of the 16 other tickets. When I emailed them about it, they claimed that because of their policy on no cancelations after a purchase, that they did not have to cancel my order and there was nothing I could do about it. It took 6 emails and multiple threats of disputing the charge with VISA before they finally canceled the order.

Not sure just decided it is time to leave Portland once I finish school. I am going to be looking mainly in the SLC, Seattle, Vegas, and LA job markets. Maybe looking a little in DC as well.

I just noticed something that could be good news for those of us hoping to still get the dutch ovens at the originally posted price. When it was showing the $8.03 price, the item was listed as being sold by Amazon.com and said that the item was not available immediately and would ship when it became available. It also had the wrong picture showing on it (it showed a picture of a 10 inch dutch oven). Now, when you go to that link and it has the $60.98 price, it no longer shows it is being sold by Amazon.com, but by a company called Uncle Joe's with a 4-5 day processing delay on the order. While the price could still be a mistake, the change in price is not anything that indicates that they found a mistake in price and changed it, it means that they sold all of their stock at the previous price and removed the Amazon.com sold item and replaced it with one from one of their sellers.

ewth8tr 08-15-2006 09:51 PM

nevermind, they just canceled my order :(

The_Tick 08-15-2006 11:51 PM

Game over...

Greetings from Amazon.com.

We regret to inform you that an error caused the Lodge Original Finish

at an incorrect price.

In accordance with our posted policies on pricing, we're unable to
offer items that have an incorrectly posted price. Therefore, we have
cancelled this item from your order.

At any given time, despite our best efforts, a small number of the

verify prices as part of our shipping procedures. If we discover that
an item's correct price is higher than our stated price, we will, at
our discretion, either contact you for instructions before shipping or
cancel your order and notify you of such cancellation. This policy is
posted in the Help section and is accessible through numerous other
areas of our web site.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

We value your business and hope that you will give us a chance to
