Food storage
I think we are at a year's supply, or very close to it. hard to know, but that's what the church calculator told us.
So now we need to fine-tune it. Anyone going to pursue getting food storage soon? Would like to keep up with your progress. |
Mine is close to 6 months right now. I need to do a better job increasing the food storage.

My wife and I got the Costco 90 day supply as our food storage. I figure if we need more than that, most likely, all of our neighbors will be dead after 3 months and we can go and eat them. I guess they become our food supply to round out the year. I also need to increase my food storage of Diet Coke to truly get us thru the year.

I loved the scene in The Road when the they found the underground cache of food storage and hadn't eaten for seven days. I didn't think anything could make canned pears with syrup, corned beef hash, and string beans sound so good.
Waters, do you have a secret underground cavern where you keep it (don't tell us where, if so)? |
I keep it in my house that is heavily protected with iron bars, two big dogs, and Smith & Wesson.

A few years back I was speaking with a friend about protecting my food storage. I had purchased a gun and a ton of ammo. I asked him what he planned. He replied, "I'm going to share it. That's why I have it". I felt dumb afterward. Sharing it would seem more in line with it's intended purpose.

But I keep a gun too. :) |

I find it interesting that the gospel could theoretically be construed as to espouse two polar opposite philosphies, viz., the "share" philsophy and the "prepare yourself, warn others, but let them suffer if they fail to heed the warnings" philosophy. Note that I'm not stating which philosophy I espouse, just saying that I see how teachings in the gospel could be construed both ways. |
My real plan would be to try and make it to my parents house, taking all my storage with me.
That would be my family's best chance for survival. My dad is a gardener and that is invaluable in times of famine. |
