dang, there goes my running for a little while

I normally run 3 miles every morning, but last Saturday I decided to push myself and ran 10. I felt great until Saturday evening and started to have a sharp pain on the side of my foot. I iced it and took it easy the rest of the weekend, hoping it would go away, but it was still hurting whenever I put any weight on it yesterday. I took some ibuprofen and still ran yesterday, but I was paying for it later. I'm going to go see a sports medicine Dr, but from what I have found online, it seems like peroneal tendinitis since the pain it right where the peroneal tendon attaches to the bone on my foot. This sucks. :(

Hope this gets better. You didn't have to take my request for your team to take time off that seriously. We're struggling this week and with VV on your team, there's no chance of us catching up.

MikeWaters 06-26-2007 01:24 PM

time to take up biking.

Runner Coug 06-26-2007 02:58 PM

Hope it gets better soon h8tr. Let us know what the doc says.

Well only real men can wear the spandex, so we understand why you wouldn't want to be shown up.

there is a difference between being able to wear the spandex and being willing to wear the spandex. :)

Just don't get better until next week. BTW, could you ask Viper to take the week off so that we don't get completely dusted by Yellow Snow?

il Padrino Ute 06-26-2007 03:28 PM

I'm supposed to wear spandex?

I guess I ought to stop riding in the shorts I wear when I play basketball, eh? Next, you'll be telling me I'm not supposed to wear flip-flops.

Go ahead, you must really enjoy crotch rot. As for my and my family jewels, we prefer as little extra bacteria as possible. Skin irritations kinda sends the wrong message.

If it is, sucks to be you. I developed peroneal tendonitis in my left foot while building my house. All that time on ladders and walking around in the attic on trusses, etc. It got worse and worse and I finally couldn't put any weight on it. Went to the podiatrist and he gave me a cortisone shot that was injected just below the ankle. Most painful shot I've ever had by far. Between that, wrapping it, and good drugs it was pretty much okay after about 3 weeks.

But I still get some pain in that foot every so often.

Granted, I abuse my feet with the extra weight as it is so it's different than you runners. But the injury sucks.

SteelBlue 06-27-2007 12:11 AM

That sucks h8r. Seems like everytime we get a challenge going one of us gets hurt.

OK, I just got back from the dr, I do have peroneal tendinitis. Luckily, he just gave me cortisone pills instead of a painful shot. He also gave me a small wedge to put in the heel of my right shoe to keep my foot strike more on the inside of my foot while it heals. He said to wait until Tuesday, check it for pain, then if pain free I can start running again on Wednesday.

SteelBlue 06-29-2007 07:04 PM

Great news. Hope you're better soon.

What kind of a challenge is this? How many miles you can bike/ride in a given period of time, or is this part of the biggest loser thing?

So did you forego your mileage so that Dromos would have a chance against Venomous Viper?

We need all the advantages we can get.

I pushed through the pain on monday and ran a little over 3 miles, but that made it worse and haven't been able to put in any since then. Too bad it was this week instead of last week, we won by nearly 80 miles last week.

We're just hamburger compared to you guys. We hoped to give you guys some reasonable competition.

Somehow, I think that the fact that you have byupride on there who, unless he is now running without nano/nike+, has not run at all this week and then yardtime (enough said :p), is not going to keep you guys from getting close, but it won't be enough :)

BEHIND ENEMY LINES 06-30-2007 06:43 PM

I feel your pain.

This exact thing happened to me last tuesday. I pushed myself and the outside of my left knee was screaming in pain. The next day when I ran I had a VERY sharp, pain on the outside of my left foot. Today I ran in the Taylorsville Days 5K and it was brutal. My wife beat me by almost a full minute. I'll never live that down. She placed in the top 10... so I guess I don't feel too bad. Someone at the race today told me that my foot injury was caused by my body compensating for my knee pain.

ouch, that sounds a lot like what happened to me. My right knee had been bothering me a little bit for a few days, but nothing major. This morning, I had very little, of any, pain in my foot, so I am excited. I think I am going to try and run on monday and if all goes well, I think I will run the South Salt Lake/Navajo Hogan 5K on the 4th.

Pride, where are you in our running challenge man? You and Nikuman have yet to register a 5k. Sizzle has been at Powell so he has an excuse.
