first ride of the season

Today was my first ride since last August.

I weigh 32lb more now than then.

I certainly wasn't fast, not fast like the 5'6" 120lb pixies that dart around the lake.

It was good to feel some burn.

When I replay my ride in my mind, as I am passed by various individuals and packs I say, "Yeah, I've been doing some other stuff. Cool stuff. Besides riding." And "if you're going faster than me, it's probably because you are a compulsive loser who doesn't do anything but ride" and "I'll bet you're real proud of yourself, ooooooo, 24mph, wooooowww".

32 pounds? How is that possible? Was that your anorexic/flu period where you were losing 5 or 10 pounds a week?

So I'm not the only one makes up stuff when guys or girls pass him? Good to know.

Rode 14 miles on Sat. and another 14 miles today. No speedometer or HRM. My battery is out. But no matter, it can be refreshing to ride w/o concerning yourself re: metrics.

Esp. when you are weak and slow.

It would be nice to be in decent shape by the end of August. But I got a long, long way to go before I have any kind of real fitness.

Also would be nice to get to the point I can comfortably ride w/ the club on their recovery group ride (which I had to give up because of boy scouts, three years ago).
