I actually don't think this will have that much influence on what the Big 12 does. The national stories I've seen on the letter in question can't really be considered anti-BYU or anti-LDS. They're all pretty matter of fact. And the comments sections are overwhelmingly supportive of BYU. I'm sympathetic to your views on the topic of homosexuality and the church, but I don't think this is "armageddon" for BYU or the church over this yet.

Conservative white males are tone deaf at best, borderline autistic at worst.

Not sure where that's directed, but the only one of those I can say with 100% confidence describes me is "male." The others are definitely in question.

Outside of cougarboard there doesn't seem to really be that much of a reaction nationally outside of the stories that were pretty objective and matter of fact. I guess we can see if there ends up being a delayed one.

On the other hand, the out of control MASS HYSTERIA on Cougarboard right now is FREAKING EMBARRASSING! I wish all the morons over there would shut the heck up. They are not helping. If there is anything CB has, it's a ridiculous overabundance of morons. There are a few sane voices over there advocating they stop overreacting, but the loudest noise is coming from the moronic whiners. I'm not seeing any such overreaction on other BYU fan forums though. That site is even scarier and stranger than I already thought.
