Obama: wealth redistributor

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.p...w&pageId=93670

also includes a revealing snippet from a 2001 interview Obama gave in which he basically laments the fact that the government and constitution established by the founding fathers doesn't jibe with his idea of "economic justice"

16th amendment made the issue irrelevant.

The 16th amendment was passed after 2001?

Let me rephrase: The issue was already irrelevant.

Ummm, he's lamenting what the Warren Court didn't do, 50-60 years AFTER the 16th ammendment.

I am guessing you didn't listen to the actual interview, but instead read snippets of what he said, because that is not what Obama said.

Tex 04-10-2009 02:17 PM

Here's the original audio that Cali linked to when this issue came up during the campaign.

He does stop just short of saying he wishes the Warren Court would've delved into those issues. But it's clear it isn't because he doesn't think those issues should be addressed, but that he doesn't think the court would be successful in doing so.

He clearly is interested in "economic justice" whether through the court or the legislature. Hard to come away from listening to that with any other conclusion than Obama has some socialist views.

[*Cue Cali Coug "socialism" definitional rant.]

Nah, I am now just amused by your and the right's inability to comprehend the plain meaning of a word. None of you have any clue what the word actually means, so you have collectively stripped it of any meaning whatsoever by misapplying it so grotesquely. Consequently, the public now seems to think socialism might be a pretty good idea (not actual socialism, mind you, but the Obama version of "socialism" which isn't actually even close to real socialism). In your desire to negatively label your opponent, all you have done is persuade the public to embrace the concept of socialism. It really is quite funny. So carry on.

Still waiting on Tex's definition of socialism.

Mormon Red Death 04-10-2009 03:02 PM

Socialism as defined by Encyclopedia Brittanica:

Quote:

System of social organization in which private property and the distribution of income are subject to social control; also, the political movements aimed at putting that system into practice.
By this definition isn't Mr. Obama's policies and Practices Socialistic? (So did GWB under this damn TARP legislation)

Damn I hate socialism.

I wonder how bad it looks for the lower and middle classes in terms of real income growth if you subtract out all the illegal immigrants.
