I've started developing a dislike for Tyler Haws
 

and I'm trying to understand why. I just plain don't like the way he plays basketball, I think.

1. He plays lousy defense.
2. He's way too small an unathletic to guard small forwards
3. He has had more perimeter jump shots blocked than anyone I can remember. What in the world is going on his mind that he thinks he can shoot over guys he can't shoot over?
4. He's selfish.
5. He's a ballstopper. See #4.
6. He's increasingly a volume shooter.

But he has that all-american mormon boy appeal that no one seems to really hate him.

When Matt Carlino misses shots, people get upset. When Haws misses shots, they say "keep shooting, you'll get out of this slump." Carlino actually does play defense. Carlino has improved his body in the past year.

I'm not saying Carlino is better. I'm saying why aren't more people pointing the finger at Haws when it comes to this team's losing ways?

We all know Haws has choked in the biggest games. The last-second shot against Texas was a notable exception. How can you be the team's leader when you aren't performing when the lights are the brightest?

Regarding #2: How tall is Tyler anyways? I looked to byucougars.com for the answer and Mountain Dew shot out of my nose shortly thereafter:

Do you believe that's an exaggeration? I know most bball players lie about their height but he seems relatively in that range.

I think he's probably not quite 6'4". I put him at 6'3".

Put it this way, if he is 6'5" then he is only 1 inch shorter than Kyle Collinsworth.

Does that seem right?

Haws has had his shot blocked, what, 3 times in the first half already?

Ridiculously bad.

Ok Haws you just won a brief reprieve with that dunk.

That was an awesome dunk.

He always seemed shorter to me and seems always to be getting his shots blocked.

He does have many shots blocked, more than most non-post players. Whenever he leans into a taller player, I cringe.

His best shots are the fall away and his mid-range jumper.
