am I a hero or a villain?
 

I've been reading "I Wear the Black Hat" by Chuck Klosterman. The book is about villains. And why some people are villains, and why some are not. And what makes a person a villain.

It made me stop and think for a moment about myself. I seem to be one of the very least popular persons in all of BYU internet fandom. I am roundly criticized on cougarboard. And another board formed from CG to leave my influence.

Just maybe, I am a villain. Rude, opinionated. Too negative. Overbearing. Unpredictable? I don't know.

But is that really fair?

I really vacillate on this. Maybe I'm a hero, maybe I'm a villain. Maybe I'm in between.

I like you because you're a villain. My favorite character in Paradise Lost is Satan; he steals the show. I was very flattered when you called me Satan. The worst villain in fiction is what makes Blood Meridian a work of genius. My oldest son called me a natural villain the other day. He seems to love me nevertheless.

this is confirmation that I'm a hero. As I suspected.
