Highest "ranking" black member in your stake?

We have a black member of the high council.

Gladys Knight, she's the Queen of music. And a great lady too.

I don't think we have an active black family in our stake. I know there is a black/Jamaican family in the area that's inactive.

In my last ward in SLC before escaping Utah in 1997, the 2nd counselor in the bishopric was AA.

I know a Bishop from Africa, councilor in the Stake Presidency and former Bishop from Jamaica, and the Stake President is Chinese.

I live in bountiful. That should answer your question.

This thread is pretty useless because most of the posters here live in a place whiter than Stockholm. I'm curious what answer Chino might come up with, given he lives near Wash DC.

Here in SoCal I have lived in two stakes but never seen a non-Caucasian in either of their high councils or presidencies, nor in seven bishoprics.

As a missionary in Arkansas there was a black high councilman for about a year.

Our high council has a black, two hispanics (one from Mexico, one from Spain), three Asians (Korea, Japan, and China), an Italian, a Russian, a Czech, an Aussie, and two South Americans (Brazil and Columbia). Our Stake Presidency is made of three women: one married with no children, one who is single, and the President has 10 children and is a working mother. The Stake Clerk is a hick who wears a wifebeater to presidency meetings, and the Stake Exec Sec is a convert former Baptist.

We were featured in Who's Who in American Diversity three years in a row, and got a full spread in the Ensign.
