Is this our loss waiting to happen? I hope not but traditionally we've played them well.

One point which worries me is that the interior of the line and linebacking crew must play well to defend the bone and our interior has not been a strength. It's an away game, where we've struggled significantly.

I wasn't able to focus upon Hooks? How well did he play Junkie.

This AFA game has scary written all over it, one week before the Utah game. I wish the two games had been switched with this one preceding the Utah game and AFA having been this week.

I believe BYU is the only team that has consistently beaten AFA. The matchups always seem to be in BYU's favor.

I don't think you have too much to worry about, Archaea.

Usually our interior defense is better than this year.

I haven't watched enough of BYU to comment on that. I was thinking more along the lines that the Y's offense will put up a lot of points.

Probably. I've watched some of the games of AFA, sometimes they are good and sometimes they've looked very average. I think the lack of a legitimate passing game will spell their downfall.

Agreed.

The only way I see BYU not winning this game is if there is an injury to Hall.

AFA is just to undersized to be effective on the defensive line of scrimmage. They're quicker, but BYU's O-line has good enough technique to negate the quickness.

Things are still working out for an epic game on the 22nd. It will be a lot of fun.

BYU hasn't played an inspired game since UCLA. AFA is a decent team and it's on the road. Anything can happen. Anae will continue to try to run 15 to 20 times more than he should with a QB that has had an efficiency of over 200 over the last three weeks and that will also help keep it close.

That is my concern as well. With this team, the pass should set up the run. Some of Anae's running plays are quite curious. When we see long runs to the side with Fui and Unga, one must scratch one's head.

with the new clock and a team that runs so much/well, you have to wonder if byu will get enough plays off to score enough.

Uh...wouldn't a shortened game hurt a rushing team more?

I don't know if it matters. I've never understood why anyone cares about time of possession. The most overrated stat in my opinion. Sure the winnint team usually takes this, but they also usually end up running more plays. Also, does the fatigue of the defense really depend on how much clock time runs off with each play? I'd guess the number of plays or first downs is a much more important stat in this regard. I'd guess that in 2001, we got killed on time of possession through that awful 10-0 run.
