BSA, gays, and LDS church

If gay leaders are eventually accepted, and the church then axes the Boy Scouts, what will you make of that? No more summer camps, no more Philmont. No more merit badges. What exactly will they do for an activity program? Duty to God? Lame. Honestly, this anti-gay stuff--I'm not sure how it helps the church. |

And I'm not so sure that bsa will cave. They can't be that anxious to instantly lose 40% of their membership, as would surely happen. |
but the YW don't have an "outdoors" program.
If a gay scout leader for a non-LDS troop in New York ruins scouts for the entire church--I just think that's weird. And must mean that scouting is not important in the first place. How many LDS parents will place their kids in BSA troops in that case (outside the church's auspices of course)? |
As long as a gay man remains celibate, he can hold any calling in the ward that doesn't require marriage, i.e. bishop.
Except Scoutmaster. |

there are female scoutmasters. apparently that wasn't enough for the church to drop scouting.

It seems to me that people are more afraid of gay men in this situation, because of the common (unfounded) belief that gay men "like" little boys, or that they will "turn" them gay. So BSAs should be fine with lesbians. . . right?

There are plenty of gays in scouting. At summer camp, you meet the college students that are camp counselors, your gaydar will go off more then once or twice.
