Hope for Mormon cuisine?

I think that the old culture whose stamp is most evident on Mormonism is Schandinavian, particularly Danish. Maybe there's something to be learned from gentrification of Danish cuisine.

Why do you feel the Nords have been most influential? Ice cream consumption?

It's just a hunch, not scientific. First, there are a large percentage of multi-generation Mormons with Schandinavian names. Also, Seattle was largely settled by Schandinavians, and there is still a strong ethinic heritage here among Schandinavians, and as I have visited Schandinavian bakeries, food stores, and museums over the years I often feel transported back to Utah. They eat the similar stuff, revere the same images of Jesus, similarly decorate, etc. That being said, it's hard to distinguish UK culture from mainstream American culture which is also prevalent in Mormon culture.

strange that you should post this. This past Saturday European embassies here in DC had an "open house" day, so I visited a few of them. The Danish embassy was by far my favorite. They did a good job of promoting their country there, and I have been entertaining fantasies about moving there ever since. Glad to hear the food may be getting better.

Incidentally, my grandmother's people joined the church in Denmark and came over from there.
