What we have learned so far this season
1. Tanner Mangum is not very good. He doesn't see the field, doesn't do timing, can't go through progressions.
2. BYU has one good RB. 3. BYU has no good receivers. 4. I think the TE is decent, but might be overrated if Mangum is targeting him every time. Meaning there are other open receivers but Mangum doesn't see them. 5. Our safeties are horrible. 6. Whatever happened to Butch Pau'u? 7. We have one standout defender. Fred Warner. 8. We have a couple good young DL at the 1 technique. 9. Sitake either doesn't know what's wrong, or is really bad at communicating that he knows what is wrong. 10. I don't believe we have better options than what we have in terms of coaches. What is plan B? Someone from a Utah high school? |
Opposing scouts say Mangum does go through his progressions.

Are they saying no one is open?
You have to deliver the ball on time to the right guy. Very little evidence that Mangum can do that. |
Sometimes there is no one open. If you pay attention, he checks down a lot.
I think Sitake needs more experienced staff. |
How did you figure out he checks down a lot? Because he averages less than 5 yards per attempt?
He's ranked 126th out of 130 in QBR. http://www.espn.com/ncf/qbr/_/page/3 He's 5.12 yards per attempt. http://www.espn.com/college-football.../tanner-mangum |
Low YPA has been a feature of Ty's offense since last year with Taysom.

we knew forever that Hill was not a good passing QB. Accuracy, timing, vision were not his strengths.
