Ramen Renaissance

Interesting article on ramen in America. Nothing better than a good miso ramen, the Sapporo variety being the very best. There are whole television shows in Japan dedicated to finding the best ramen shops, as well as several glossy books on the subject. Kind of like the guides to the best restaurants in Paris. Hmmmmm.

Then they end the article with a screwy recipe for something called ramen salad. Stupid Americans.

I'm surprised that they didn't have a recipe for this popular staple on my mission:

1. Cook ramen. Dump water.
2. Add can of cream of mushroom. Heat. Mix.
3. Place on top of toast.
4. Eat.

I had it once. It was better than you would expect. But I never cooked it again.

I just read that and had the same thought when I saw the article. Yuck.

In my recent trip to Hawaii with my son we visited lots of ramen shops in Honolulu. I swear some of those bowls were gallon sized.

One of our local Asian markets sells raw ramen noodles. Great stuff.

Cream of Mushroom/Chicken/Celery soup is an enemy of Jeff Lebowski.

Hilarious! You should use cream soup cans for target practice instead of pop bottles.
