NBC coverage of the Olympics

For the first time I watched a little Olympics last night. True to form, the coverage was awful.

Lyndsey Vonn and her bruised shin was the story of the night. So they covered her race. And then covered her reaction to winning. And then they replayed her reaction. And the race. Then they interviewed her. Then they talked about it some more. And then of course they covered the medal ceremony. And talked about it some more.

Wonderful. She won. Hot American chick who posed for SI Swimsuit wins Gold. Wonderful. But do we really need to spend 45 minutes covering a sporting event that transpired over a minute and 30 seconds?

Then what do they do next? Go to Apollo Ono for a meaningless heat, spinning in circles on the ice. It was beyond boring.

What next? Carrot Top the Bandit going down this ridiculous snow tube doing skater tricks.

I can hardly stand to watch the Olympics precisely because of the maudlin coverage. It makes me want to puke.
