Marketing "Religious Freedom" to Millenials

Yesterday I heard Tina Ramirez, who runs a non-profit that educates people around the world on religious freedom (Sudan, Iraq, Uzbekistan), speak to us Mormons.

First thing I heard her say was that we are a people born out of persecution, so we should understand this stuff. What came to my mind was what SeattleUte said: Jews responded to persecution by protecting other persecuted groups, Mormons haven't. [He is right, to a degree; Jews have funded the civil rights movement but their treatment of Palestineans isn't stellar].

Anyway, back to her speech. In the USA, millennials are favoring gay rights over religious freedom. So how is she successful? Millennials support refugees. Millennials oppose sex trafficking by ISIS, things like that. So her organization ties all types of religious persecution together, at home and abroad.
