Very interesting story about his role in starting a foundation to improve conditions in Russian orphanages. After reading that, I say all of you who would criticize him for playing in/for Russia can shove it.

Way to go, Travis.

the only problem I have in that article is he said he would rather play on the American olympic team. That's disrespectful to the Russians.

Travis: "Every athlete dreams about playing in the Olympics".

Me: Yes, for your country.

Travis: "I'd love to play for Team USA, but they didn't invite me."

Me: Then don't play. Is there no patriotism left?

Look, I respect Travis alot for what he is doing over there. I think he's a good person, I just don't agree with him playing on another country's national team. He will be trying to defeat his own country on a world stage. But I'm sure it's just my problem, being too much of a nationalist and not enough of a world citizen. I really need to get with the program.

I agree, it makes him sound like some of a mercenary. "I don't care who I play for, I just want to play in the Olympics!"
