Why This Is All About the LV Tourney:
THIS IS FROM CB - AND ITS 110% CORRECT. I'M STILL UPTIGHT ABOUT THE LV TOURNEY.
I know people like simplistic truisms they've heard from their high school coaches. "No excuses!" "Step up and play!" And all those tough guy platitudes. But the fact is - "stuff has consequences." There's a direct line of causation: (A) The tournament being hosted in Las Vegas (B) BYU losing to UNLV in the tournament (C) BYU getting unfavorable (i.e. entirely losable) first round draws (D) BYU losing in the first round of the tournament That's straightup, objective fact. Does that mean BYU shouldn't have stepped up and won one of those games? No they should have. But it's also not just an "excuse" to point out that it's total crap that the tournament is played in Vegas, and that this total crap does substantively impact BYU's chances in the tournament, and will most likely negatively impact our recruiting. |
We were an 8 seed and probably didn't deserve that. We didn't lose to UNLV because the tournament was played in Las Vegas. We lost to UNLV because they are a better team than us. We obviously didn't deserve better than an 8 seed. Is there really any satisfaction in winning a tourney game if we can only do it by playing crappy teams? We should have the attitude that we'll play anybody, anytime, anywhere. Instead, we have pussy fans who spend all their time griping because they game the system to duck any real competition. Stop the whining already.

Keep in mind, at this point BYU
