What I find VERY IRONIC in all of this, is that an excommunicated gay-married guy is encouraging disaffected folks to stay in the church, whereas it seems the exact opposite message is being sent out by the FP and the Q12. I'm not saying anything from the latter in terms of wanting gay persons and their families and friends to stay with the church.

Very ironic.
