Does anybody else know this one?

I don't know if I can ever hit five minutes for one mile, let alone training as if it is nothing.

anybody that says long distance running isn't a sport hasn't seen ryan hall run. seeing how effortlessly he runs in that video was very impressive.

he flies.

i've tried to break a 7 minute mile, and i can't get my legs moving fast enough. i do 10-15 miles / week, so it's not as if i just sit around. he's very impressive.

I think those of us that follow American distance running are about to enjoy a pretty exciting period of running. I can see Ryan Hall taking bronze in Beijing, and possibly even silver. Dathan Ritzenhein is also an excellent runner, and they're both very young. They've basically been competing against each other since high school, so that should be a fun rivalry to watch.

Where do you guys get your running information? Is there a website that you prefer to follow for racing and training news?

There are things one can do to accelerate leg speed if it doesn't come naturally. When I was younger, my leg speed was simply there. Now it's not without weights, intervals and tempo.

Running hard is hard.

I remember at the end of most races puking from effort. Your side hurts, your lungs burn and every muscle wishes it could die, but you must mentally push through that. Sometimes I wimp out. The great runners do not.

I like to jog, but I hate running, because it means pure pain.

I watched taht video, man that guy can fly. I saw the trials and he was amazing.

Fun to wathc him run that route. I did a tri earlier there this year, but at least it was warm the day I was out there. running with a wind like was out ther that day he was there sucks.

Runner's World does at least one good feature story every month, they profiled Dathan Ritzenhein a few months back. Their web site is also updated with news daily. There are a few other sites that are updated frequently:

coolrunning.com
marathonguide.com
letsrun.com
