BYU announces new President

1. So what is Samuelson's legacy? I have no answer to that question. I don't know the scene well enough.

2. What does anyone know about the new guy? Kevin Worthen. Former dean of the law school. General authority.

He supports BYU sports. He's a smart guy, and a company man, is what I hear. It is doubtful we will see any significant changes but who knows.

He's an Area Seventy. Do you consider that a General Authority, or is he a member of the First Quorum?

Danged straight. And not from me.

Some kid from BYU called me a few weeks ago for fundraising purposes. Said that the engineering school was exploding(enrollment, I guess) and Samuelson told all their fundraising people to quit whatever they were doing and raise money for the engineering school. Maybe if I had gone to the engineering school I would be in a better position to give them money.

Anyhow, I declined.

They need a new building, that's why.
