Anyone see the guy on the front row....
of the Jazz game the other night with the cowboy hat about 3 down from Adelman?
I was about 4 rows behind him the other night and was told by some dudes at the game that he is a dot com millionaire that attends 40 playoff games in various arenas in 40 nights. (Similar to the TNT coverage promo) Can anyone substantiate this claim? |
He is not a dot com milloinaire. He has been in fashion, real etstate and architecture for years and years...back to the days when the Lakers were in the Forum. Also, he has been going to NBA games for several decades now. If you look closely now, you may notice him in footage of older games. He always wears crazy hats with feathers, etc.
He lives in LA (Hollywood Hills). He is a self-proclaimed NBA lover, and besides attending Laker home games, he loved to travel around the country to attend what he calls "the best games." He is on good terms with many NBA players, coaches, refs, etc. They all know him. His name is Jimmy Goldstein and is an LA fixture on the social scene. I posted about it briefly on CB a week or so ago. http://www.cougarboard.com/noframes/...tml?id=3690169 Also, go to his personal website and check out his really cool contemporary house. It has been used to film movies, commercials, etc.. http://www.jamesfgoldstein.com/basketball.html pop culture, baby. |
Yeah, that's the dude.
Somebody sitting next to us tried to tell us his name was Lou Alder and he was in the music industry. He was 'corrected' by another dude who said he was a dot com millionaire. I didn't figure a tech geek to rub elbows with professional athletes. |

FYI, Lou ADLER is actually the guy who sits next to Jack Nicholson at Laker games. He kind of looks like Donald Sutherland, with a white beard, a cap, and sunglasses. His trademark is wearing funky socks. Adler used to be in music, but back in the 60s, I think. He bought a sold record companies a few times. he is really into music and owns a cool club called The Roxy on Sunset...a very famous venue that has hosted a lot of important bands. He will sohw up there, often, too. Lou and Jimmy...totally different people. |
DDD, your knowledge of pop culture is astounding.

Jimmy G has gone all over the country. He was at the Jazz/Bulls games. He was at the Magic Skyhook in the Boston Garden game. He travels all over. In some interviews, he professes his love for the Lakers. In others, he actually claims to love no team, but the entire league. Either way, there is no doubt he is probably the NBA's most invested fan. I saw him once at a Rockets/Lakers game in Houston. He was wearing a purple felt two piece suit and a purple hat with a feather in it. I guess when you have enough money, you make anything look cool. |
