Should Mika leave?

For the sake of argument let's say he is going to be a 2nd round draft pick in the NBA if he leaves.

Would his stock go up after 1 more year in college?
1. Going against that will be his older age. He's ancient.
2. His outside game might be more refined.

What's his upside?
1. I think his main upside is become a more skilled offensive player who can mix it up inside and outside.

What's his downside?
1. Who is he going to guard in the NBA? He's not anything close to being a dominant defensive player in the WCC. He's not a rim protector. So he's going to be a 4 in the NBA? Who is he going to guard? Can you imagine him on the perimeter guarding some of these stretch 4s? Him against Blake Griffin? Or the guys who bang down low?

I think the only reason to stay is if he wants another year of the college experience. I doubt he improves his pro prospects by staying. The scouts already know his potential and his downside.

I doubt he goes unless he is identified as a first rounder.

Jimmer made progress in being drafted by staying. He will make progress with another solid season, and if he adds a jump shot. I hope he returns because that team without Mika is a dumpster fire.

If you're going to be a second rounder the odds say it's always smarter fiscally to stay in college and get a degree, without which in this age you're toast. Never mind that a college degree is best for your soul.

So many grown ups are out there giving these kids bad advice. It's like what got him on a mission. Nobody thinking realistically and strategically about the kids' interests.
