BYU 11th in both polls

Utah is 17th in both and TCU is 23th in coaches, 24th in AP.

I think we could drop a spot or so during our bye week, but at this stage in the season, we are positioned for an auto inclusion if we win out.

Go Cougars, Beat the Aggies!

Do you mean "we" Southern Cal or "we" BYU? I get confused.

Obviously if BYU wins out they'll get a bid. The same is true of Utah and TCU. But isn't the "winning out" part the tough part?

That is the tough part, yes.

Now you're starting to see what it's like for those teams that are not the anointed. No room for error.

Do you think it's easier to get into a BCS bowl as a BCS team or as a MWC team? Not argumentative, just curious to hear your opinion.

Under the current system, I think it's easier to get there in our position. I'd rather join the PAC 10 or Big 12, for both the level of competition and the money, but I don't see as perennial champions of either conference.

Let's see, an auto-bid or an at-large that has to jump through hoops in order to get there?

It's a no brainer. It's always easier for someone in the club to get in. Even those that don't win the auto bid only have to be ranked higher than any non-BCS team in the BCS polls.

So do you think it's easier to win the PAC 10 or go undefeated? I think it's close, but I still think it's easier to win the MWC and go undefeated.

It's easier to win the MWC than the PAC-10 and go undefeated, but that team still has to depend on other things - such as other teams from BCS conferences having enough losses in order to not be ranked higher in the BCS standings.

All the Big East and ACC teams have to do is win their conference and their in.

The MWC is decent enough that if any team goes undefeated, they'll get an autobid.

The Big East or ACC (or Big Ten, for that matter) are obviously the easiest way in, but irrelevant in our cases.

I agree. I am becoming a convert to the new BCS system. I think BYU has much better odds of a BCS game than they would have in any BCS conference (other than the Pac 10 where I think BYU could compete for 2nd annually, especially this year).
