Repo Men, a morally bankrupt film that should not have been made
Repo Men, starring Jude Law and Forest Whitaker, contains competent actors but a grossly inadequate script and story. It is bereft of compelling dialogue or content.
If you want gratuitous, meaningless violence without redeeming virtues, then go and see it. And this is coming from somebody who has seen far too many vicious killings on screen. The violence doesn't destroy the movie for me. The story or lack of a good story does. SPOILER alert. What does the story want to be, Matrix coupled with the Road, plus Clockwork Orange Redux? What is the bottom line, Obama solves health care costs issue no matter the cost? Black guy always wins? Abandon all hope all who enter here? It's muddled and ultimately uninteresting. The viewer ends up not caring about any of the characters and feels betrayed he or she wasted his or her time. Skip it. |
I just saw Inglourious Basterds.
Boring. Uninteresting. Tarantino is the nerd-playing-cool who thinks he is too clever by half, but is superficial to an extent that he has no insight into. |
