You'll poke your eyes out, you'll poke your eyes out.
I think with Kessman it was a love affair that went bad. I remember reading on TBS when his Dad would post. I told a few of my friends that I thought this was one of those fathers who was living through his kid. I know fathers who do that. They aren't bad people.
Of course he was living large because of all the praise TBS could provide. I mean that guy, Kessman's Dad, was getting his butt kissed constantly. Your kid is the greatest. We are so lucky to get him. Welcome to the band of brothers. Your kid is the kind of kid we need at BYU. YOu will come to feel God himself is coaching your kid, and on and on and on.
Well the kid goofs up. The father of course is whining for his kid and not making his kid take responsibility. He comes to the friendly TBS board who loves him and he gets his head taken off of.
No one told him the first principle of the mormon culture. While we are proselyting you no one will love you like we will. However, if you don't convert, no one will turn their backs on you as fast as we will.
The kid has an overestimation of himself which was IMHO fueled by his father. That situation combined with the BYU fan base was a combustable situation.
