Thai food recipes

I love Thai food. I am thinking of making an attempt at cooking curry. Anyone have a good panang curry recipe? This could be a disaster...

BFM (really it's Mrs. Meanie) and Lebowski are our Thai experts.

This is a great recipe Lebowski once posted. We make it about every other month.

Wow. I am honored.

Jeff Lebowski's recipe sounds delish.

We did a makeshift Japanese shabu shabu at our house last week.

Sounds like it is time to do a Thai theme in the coming weeks.

curry rocks. Sometimes when our next door neighbors from India come over to visit, I can smell it on them and I secretly want to nibble on their arms...they smell so tasty!

That dish looks fantastic! I will definitely give it a shot. Have you made panang curry?

Yes we have. You just use the panang paste and throw in a different selection of veggies and meat. Don't forget the fish sauce.

Ah. So you substitute equal amounts of panang paste for curry paste? Which veggies do you find work the best? Beef is the only way to go with panang. Delicious! Do you still use the potato? I haven't noticed potato in panang curry I have ordered, but I am sure there are many ways to do it.

I generally do chicken thigh meat with panang, but it is often done with beef. I wouldn't use potatoes with it, personally. Panang is typically prepared with meat, sauce, and not much else. But I like to throw in a few carrots, peas, and maybe some bamboo shoots.

The panang paste is usually a little too hot for my kids' tastes so we don't do it as much as masaman, green, or yellow curry.

Lebowski, did you end up buying that Quick and Easy Thai book? I recently bought it, and so far have made the shrimp red curry and a couple noodle dishes. Any other recipes you like from that book?

Cali, there are at least a couple threads on Thai food on here. I made something called Laab that BFM recommended, that was an easy and tasty meal.
