It is tougher to get to the bigger numbers without alcohol at the average place.

So if I bought a single 24 oz. PBR at the gas station to go with the hotdogs, I'd be spending too much.

Thanks for the thrift tip.

It was so expensive I thought hell, might as well taste it twice.

I would feel bad being that extravagant with someone else's money. But then for my own $, it's not an extravagance really because I value it. I've only eaten at expensive places in NYC, DC, and Chicago. I need to travel a little more to spread the wealth.

I just dropped $550 on five people. Yowza.

Hey, ute4ever. I am dining in the Gaslamp District all week, buddy. Eat your heart out.

ute4ever 08-06-2008 05:24 AM

Ah, that explains the $550. You could easily do that all week in Gaslamp. Too bad the Padres are on the road; nothing beats a meal downtown followed by a short walk to the ballpark.

They had two games over the weekend. But I was tied up and couldn't make either one.

Hey, did you ever eat at Bandar? One of my favorites here.

I've heard of Bandar but never tried it. I'm a fan of Monsoon. Greatest Muligatawney ever.

Mrs. Funk and I are cheap and typically share an entree thus lowering the cost of the meal drastically. Usually, it is an entree and an appetizer for us.

I went to a seaside restaurant with my parents in Greece that cost a small fortune. Included in our meal: lobster, muscles, shrimp and an array of fish. They prepared the fish we chose in front of us and we were treated to a multitude of salads.

For a party of 5 I think it cost my pops 1300 Euro.
