a quick stopoff at dooce.com

First post, unreadable.

2nd post, unreadable.

3rd post, unreadable.

Scanned for the word Mormon.

Quote:

1) no, Mormons are not required to wear their heavenly underwear during sex, 2) we continue to live in Utah despite that fact that we are no longer Mormon because my mother has threatened to cut me out of her will if I move her grandchildren out of state, and you would stay put, too, if you thought you might lose that enormous collection of ceramic roosters,
Didn't even care to see the context, if there was any.

It startles and frightens me that so many people find her interesting. Maybe other people are like me, and like to look once every blue moon to marvel at the douchery. Maybe she gets traffic because people hate her. I'm pretty good at getting people to hate me. Maybe I can turn that talent into money.

Oh, it gets better, she's a twitterer.

Hooray!

Twitter is apparently for people whose attention span can't quite hold facebook.

I recently stopped on this blog myself. As I think I mentioned to you before, I'd never heard of her before you mentioned the blog here. Then, she started turning up here and there.

I also can't imagine wanting to read that regularly. I mainly read some in the archives because I was interested in the backstory, in how she was fired for her blog, I was curious about how it had evolved. And yet, I didn't get it. She must strike some kind of chord--I just don't hear it.

Now I suspect Seriously So Blessed could become even bigger, although that one is headed for a flameout in the near future because it's author will be exposed, and revealing the woman behind the curtain will take away from what it is. Perhaps dooce has some staying power because it's a real person's life, and people start to feel invested. Like reality tv. I know you're no fan of that, but that doesn't change the fact that it's popular, and people are making truckloads of money off of it.
