What did you decide to do about the mosquitoes?

They passed the bat-sized mark some weeks ago and are now up to the size of vultures.

I'm thinking I'm going to have to spray the property, but I've never done it before. Did you guys install a mister?

No. Didn't really do anything yet. I have heard that a garlic mixture works ... and is non-toxic. But haven't looked into it yet.

I think I'm okay with toxic at this point.

The little old lady next door says the mosquitoes are bad because we're not keeping up our birdhouses.

I love old people.

She's on to something. As a kid we always had some swallows nest in our barn and we never had mosquitoes to any great degree chez nous, plus we got to enjoy their acrobatic feeding runs in the twilight.

Yes, but what my dear, misguided neighbor doesn't realize is that our barn (as yours did) serves as an aviary for dozens of birds who nest in the eaves.

The real source of the increased mosquito population is, presumably, the flooding.
