What was Bonds thinking?

From the March 13 SI article on Barry Bonds' steroid use:

"Bonds' physical changes during this time were consistent with steroid use. His hair fell out . . . . Bonds' back broke out in acne . . . . Bonds also suffered sexual dysfunction . . . ."

I don't know about you all, but those look like three pretty significant entries on the negative side of the balance sheet.

Here is what Bonds was thinking:

"71."

EIther that, or he was thinking "$20 million a year? Not bad."

Either way, nearly everyone was doing steroids at the time. Why single him out because he rose above everyone else. Silly waste of time. Go Bonds.

They are singling him out because 1) he is a prick and 2) he is close to beating the most important record in the books, and 3) he is a prick.

Right. And before the drugs he was a 32 hr/yr. guy. My heart goes out to Griffey. As a skinny kid in his mid-twenties he was hitting 50+ homers a year and doing wonders in center field. Everyone was saying he was the greatest in the game, far eclipsing Bonds, who was older. Then Griffey got hurt over and over again, and Bonds started doping. Life aint fair. Maybe it is. Maybe Bonds is just starting to get his karma that he made for himself.

Your heart goes out to him? To Griffey? My heart doen't go out to any of thoise guys. They're pampered rich kids most of whom have been spolied since they were young. The get paid MILLIONS to play a stinking game. Bonds is a jerk and Griffey would have done better but for his injuries, but my heart doesnt go out to any of these guys any more than it would go out to Pierce Brosnan for not getting to play Bond, James Bond, any earlier than he did. Interesting, but no big deal either way.
