80's theme DJ project

List the songs that you feel should be at a youth dance, featuring exclusively 80's music. 3 hours of music.

Alphaville - Forever Young
ABC - Be Near Me
Chris De Burgh - Lady in Red
Depeche Mode - People Are People
Duran Duran - Hungry Like the Wolf
Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams
Michael Jackson - Beat It
New Order - Blue Monday
Pet Shop Boys - West End Girls
Technotronic - Pump up the Jam (uses word "booty", maybe inappropriate)
Tears For Fears - Everybody Wants To Rule the World

Just a start. Most of you would be more talented at this than me.

Billy Idol - Mony Mony
Heart - These Dreams
Spirit in the Sky - the 80's dance version, not sixties hippie version
Safety Dance
Come on Ilene
Def Leppard - Love Bites

You need a couple of The Cars tunes. I would suggest Magic. It seems to have a resurgence in popularity amongst BYU loving LDS youth :) If not Magic then I suggest You Might Think, Hello Again or Drive.

RIchard Marx - Right here waiting (can't believe I forgot that stake dance staple)

Let me know if you are serious about this. If you want, I can send you my 80s hits playlist....over 1000 songs on it.

how does a playlist work? If I have say 80% of the songs on your playlist, can I import your playlist into WMP and play it or something like that?

I DJ'ed our stake youth dance as a youth in the 80's.

"Let's Go All The Way" only got about 30 seconds into the song before the leaders cut it off.

Not sure about WMP, but for iTunes it can.

If you want just titles, the playlist can give you a good sampling of things to include.

If you are really brave, give me your address and I will just rip 4 or 5 discs of 80s mp3s. It will give you about 800 or so songs. Illegally!

Funny, I have only ever heard them play 80s music at youth dances. (Both as a youth in the 90s, as well as more recently when I was a leader.) I would just tell the DJ to play the usual and you'll be fine.
