The first Mormon American Idol?

stay tuned.

I don't like Cook for the simple reason that he sounds like too many of those crappy bands I hear on the radio, plaintive wailing that reminds me that rock is dead (at least on the radio).

You dont like the one guy because he reminds you that rock is dead.....so you like the other kid, who is basically like Donny Osmond?

Wake me up when American Idol has gone far, far away.

The whole thing is an affront to music.

Has archuleta even sang an original song yet or is he still singing covers? He would do well on a cruise ship or in Branson, Missouri.

Yea, he sounds like that EMO garbage.

But rock is not dead. 80s rock lives! (as disturbing as that ideas is).

Motley Crue has a new single out and it's the best song I've heard from them in years--decades:

Yes, they aren't virtuosos and their lyrics could've been written by a fifth grader. But this is what rock sounds like (at least 80s rock).

Would the two of you pop afficianados explain what you're discussing.

A Mormon is now in a big phony rock band? Who is it and what is the name of the band?

MikeWaters 05-21-2008 03:53 PM

It's a singing contest. It's not a songwriter contest.

Btw, that Motley Crue song sounds like a bad retread. Nothing original about that song.

Even you are not clueless enough to have never heard of American Idol.

The final two are the same poser wannabes that make it to the final two every year, except this time, one of them is a twee Mormon who lives in Utah. Sometimes you get an overweight person, sometimes you get a woman, but you almost always get a hack who inevitably disappears into oblivion.

He is a cute little dude who has the appeal of a little Michael Jackson or Donny Osmond, except he doesn't do any original material and if put in the Delta Center, would be as entertaining as watching the Mickey Mouse Club.

Agreed. It is basically an elaborate karaoke contest.

For a deacon, Achuleta has pipes:

No, no. That's good retread. EMO bands couldn't get that aggressive sound out if there lives depended on it. Mick Mars has more aggression in his pinky finger than all the EMO guitarists put together.

I never liked Motley Crue. Hacks. Boring music.

The best of the big-hair pseudo-metal bands was Def Leppard. They were actually good songwriters for a time.
