All-Church Tourney

Nice read. That would be so much fun if this tournament were reinstated. But I bet anything that the women would be all pissed off and want something equivalent.

Pretty cool stuff.

My Dad was Bishop of the Cincinnati 1st and 2nd Wards that traveled back to SLC to play in the Finals back in the late 60's and early 70's back when this tourney was a big deal in the church.

I wish they got rid of stake basketball for YM. I had to coach it one year, and it was an awful experience for me.

I always loved going to stake and regionals when I was in HS, both as a participant and to observe the HP games.

It was always cool to see which Bishops actually cursed in real life.

I remember that tournament as a young kid. It was on TV in Utah.

Conrad Schultz was my mission president from that article. He was a ringer that the ward team recruited. He played college ball at the University of Oregon. But the experience introduced him to the Church and he later was baptized. I always tried to get him to play ball. He never would. All the missionaries would gather at the Littleton stake center next to the mission office on P-days to play ball. We used to set up these huge 3-on-3 tournaments with seeds and brackets and everything. I do remember one time he came by to watch and he took off his jacket and drained a few baseline 3's before retrieving his coat and bowing out.

I sometimes forget how old some of you guys are. Can you again regale us with tales of seeing President Grant hat shopping at the ZCMI?
