Instantly, this university's team would be better than BYU-Provo's.

Isn't Texas the place

that begged the United States to annex them because they were afraid of the Mexicans? If my history serves me right.

Joseph Smith actually seriously investigated moving everyone to Texas. He had representatives negotiate with Sam Houston. The utility of it would be Mormons would be a buffer between the non-Mormon Texans and the Mexicans. As we know, it didn't happen. But Lyman Wight, believed that Texas indeed was where Joseph wanted his people to go, and took a small group and settled in Texas. I've been to the museum in Bandera, TX that has one of his original mill stones. Eventually, after a lot of problems, he decided to join the saints in Utah, if I'm not mistaken, but died shortly after embarking.

Texas is a proud place, and for good reason. The only state to join the USA as a nation, and has the statutory right to fly its flag at the same height as the USA flag.

The people who most want to be in Utah these days are the five blackwater guards charged with murder. It has been widely reported that they feel there is a better chance for them to get off if they surrender in Utah. This likely has nothing to do with Mormonism, but is nonetheless ironic.
