Someone on the comments section was asking why he hasn't been excommunicated.

Certainly members have been excommunicated for crimes committed, often in absentia. I have no idea if this rises tot he level of excommunication in the church, but I think any sense of proportionality would make you lean towards at least considering it.

The commenter who claimed that also claimed that some of his victims were excommunicated because they could no longer pay their tithing. He doesn't seem to have the most credibility.

I would be very surprised if Southwick hadn't been excommunicated. I personally know someone who was exed for financial fraud far smaller than this.
