Also, the poorest people often have the worst health. Regressively, those who need medical coverage the most don't have it, while well-to-do, educated, healthy people can have too much (should I insure with my employer or my spouse's?).

In the richest country in the history of the world, the fact that we have people that go hungry and don't have adequate minimal medical care astounds me. I'm not a big fan of socialized medicine, but we need a better option for universal minimal coverage.
