Default I was inspired today...

In my Political Science class, we discussed Miranda rights. At the time, I was ignoring most of what my teacher was saying and listening to the Boston song, "Amanda." Putting two and two together, here is a remake of the same tune, entitled, "Miranda."

Babe, you’re coming with me today
There is nothing that you have to say
Anything that you do
Will be used against you
In a Court of Law—do you understand?

So, if you need to think things through
A lawyer can be given to you
If you can’t pay his fee,
He will do it for free
And we will pay—do you understand?

Now that we took you by surprise
We’ll make you realize
Miranda
You don’t have to say a thing
And we will not make you sing
Miranda
An attorney you can hail
And he’ll get you out of jail
Miranda
Keep quiet

Babe, will you listen now to me
You ought to submit a plea
But it’d be such a mess
If you try to confess
Before I say: do you understand?

So, you can stop us without telling why
When we ask you for your alibi
Now your rights are explained—
Information obtained
From you today will be used at the stand

Now that we took you by surprise
We’ll make you realize
Miranda
You don’t have to say a thing
And we will not make you sing
Miranda
An attorney you can hail
And he’ll get you out of jail
Miranda

We’ll avoid
Some nasty legal fights
If we read an explanation
Of your Fifth Amendment rights

Now, sign this paper
And get ready for your trial
In just a while
Your lawyer will set you free

Babe, you’re coming with me today
There is nothing that you have to say
To me--do you understand?
