Most influential games for me:

Lode Runner
Pitfall
Mario Bros.
Zelda (see avatar)
Contra (up up down down left right left right a b select start)
Oregon Trail
That Olympics game that you needed the pad for (Nintendo)
Monkey Island (where I learned what hemorrhoids are, funny game)
Descent (first experience playing others over internet)

Most hours: Civilization and Starcraft

I think civilization was the most influential on shaping my interests in life, as well as my knowledge of history. It was also extremely helpful on my mission. It got me interested in city names so that I eventually learned almost all of the world's capitals. Having served in a very international city, when someone would tell me they were from Namibia, or Sierra Leone, I'd say, "Oh, from Windhoek?" or "Freetown?" and they'd think I used to live there and we were able to get a 1st discussion in. Chalk it up!
