Like you, I'm not a genuine connoisseur, but those would all make my list. I'd add The Doors "Light My Fire", not because of the lyrics, to be sure, but I loved that song when it came out. To the Kinks, I'd add "You Really Got Me", and I like Hendrix's Crosstown Traffic, complete with kazoo backup.

Among the more obscure, I'd include Spirit's "I Got a Line On You" and The Byrd's "I'll Probably Feel a Whole Lot Better." This thread has inspired me to update my iPod playlist.
