But to be honest, the quote pissed me off, because it's irresponsible. Dugard claims to love the sport of cycling. But the sport is in the shitter right now precisely because a lot of people who should've known better looked the other way when they should've spoke up - including journalists. Yeah, those who did - like Paul Kimmage, or Christophe Bassons - were routinely shouted down and hounded out of the sport, but that doesn't make it OK to sit by.

FWIW, the confession sounds about right to me. There is one athlete left in the world doing superhuman things that I believe may actually be doing them without the help of modern medicine and that's Michael Phelps. If/when he is busted I will have officially lost all faith in the accomplishments of the modern athlete.
