Default I'm late to this discussion but to me it comes down to this

If the state has evidence of actual abuse and only takes the kids where that can be proven, fine. If the argument is that it is abusive to "brainwash" these kids with their wacky religion, then I have a BIG problem with that. I don't care if you worship Satan, you have the right to teach your kids whatever value system you want to.

The minute the precedent is set that teaching a certain set of religious values to children is abusive, we have a HUGE problem.

Of course, the secularists would love it. Creationism? Abusive. Homosexuality is wrong? Abusive. Don't have sex until marriage? Abusive. And so on.
