The NBA has a vested interest in making sure that it retains credibility. If they do not acknowledge mistakes, then the public starts believing that there is a fix and the league becomes pro wrestling.

The Laker games have been the highest rated games in the post-season, so they are not needing the ratings for tonight. Everyone will be watching anyway.
